About a Boy 2nd Challenge Entry

The second challenge this month over at About a Boy is about water.. splash... I took pics of my boy spraying himself with our sprinkler! He's a real water dog for sure.
Here's a few close ups:

Here's a white feather that I used my Lindy Stamp Gang Mist ( Whale Watch Blue - Starburst)

Using some glossy accents on my water.

a little punchinella to help out....

Splatter splatter everywhere...

I used a Prima stencil for the corners.

I'm also entering this for this months Color Challenge over at Lindy's Stamp Gang and for their Design Team.  :-)

I used the Starbursts colors of : Rudolph's Nose Red and Whale Watch Blue. I used Carribean Blue - Flat Fabio and Glitz Spritz - Royal Lapiz Lazuli. I also used one of their Magicals : from the Drink Me Silly Line - Blue Hawaiian Blue.  I don't have many colors but I loved using these colors!!
How cool would it be to work with their mists, sprays and powders.

Cereal Box Fun Tut for Scrap That!

Hello there! I'm excited to be here to share a little tut with you. Isn't Srap That! an amazing place to learn new things!
Have you had a chance to check out our hop?? It start's here
The supplies you will need for this tut: one cereal box, one punch, Gesso, foam brush or something to paint with, ink, and die cutting machine to emboss with, embossing folder, Heat tool- optional.

1. Take your punch that you want to experiment with, punch it out and then paint it with Gesso.

2. Now if you want to hurry it along just a little bit you can use your heat tool to dry it faster.

3. Now that you are pretty sure its dry take your emboss folder and whichever die cutting machine you have. I used my Cuttlebug.

Here you can see I am feeding it in using my Genius platform system. It's pretty awesome.

4. Look at that! Really cool right?  However....

I had other folders that I thought I should try. I couldn't stop and you might not be able to either!!

Experiment and play til you see something that you really like. I've included some examples. I did try to restrain myself and not use every folder I owned.

Now if you notice this butterfly comes in our main kit. It was a really nice thin material.

5. Now get out your ink and lightly go over your embossed items. I even rubbed two different colors on one of them. I did get excited about the inks too.

Then I had another thought!!! What if after the Gesso I went ahead and INKED the item. I used my Tim Holtz Metallic Distress Stain from my stash.. to paint the butterfly and THEN I embossed it.

Here is the end result. I love how this turned out as well.  I think there is a place for both methods!

What do you think??

Here I used both creations on my project using the Main Kit Only for this layout.

Thank you for looking. I'm running a challenge over at Scrap That! Come join me for a chance to win a beautiful prize.
Happy Scrappn!!

August Kit Reveal and Blog Hop

Hello and Welcome to our August Kit Reveal and Blog Hop !
If you lose your way, here is the order:
We are so blessed to have the sweet and uber-talented,
Lisa Gregory
as our Guest DT for August!

Hi, My name is Lisa and by profession I am a registered nurse. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have 2 children who are now successful young adults.  I have been a crafter my whole life. Back in 2005, when my son was doing his senior project with his girlfriend (who is now his wife) They were creating a scrapbook of their lives. They elicited my help as I was the crafty one. I found Scrapbook.com and saw the kind of scrap booking the artists did. I was amazed at the styles. It just wasn't cut and paste and stickers. It was 3 dimensional, it was gorgeous, and oh so inspiring. So I created a gallery, created my first layout and the rest is history. My style has changed a bit throughout the years, but playing with and scissors is still so therapeutic for me. I am honored and excited to be Guest Designing for Scrap That for the month of August.

Stop by Lisa's Blog
to see her gorgeous work.

We are also excited to introduce a new addition to our DT-

Paper Temptress ~ Tag

Here is a Design Team project for Paper Temptress. I thought I might do a bright cheerful tag.

Overlay on top of more awesome PT cardstock

I used 3rd Eye Stamps for the honeycomb background and the roses are from 3rd Eye.
I stamped the flowers using my Prima stamp and a little piece from Gina's Chipboard.
