Christmas Cards

I signed up for a Christmas card swap over at The Flying Unicorn. Making these cards has been a delight and sure put me in the mood for Christmas. I'll show some samples below.

I used some of my Anna Griffin Christmas Dies to layer under her sentiment.

Here I tucked in some leaves and cheesecloth that I had sprayed green.

Here you can see a little peek of the cheesecloth.

And for the rest ....
Now here's a card I was trying the Prima Extravaganza Snowflakes Paste.

Some close ups now one of the things I noticed when I put it on the flowers its that whatever dye was on the flower the paste turned colors.. so it didn't stay white like I wanted. I will try it on another flower to see what happens.

Now on the card it stayed pretty white, the paste that is.

And here you can see the Anna Griffin foil, some of the elements I used were from Anna Griffin and some were Prima Victorian Christmas.

I'll be posting more cards this week.

Playing with my Minc

I've been experimenting with my Anna Griffin Minc. I will show what all I did down below over at First Christian Church last Saturday.
First I wanted to see if Heidi Swapps products would work in my machine. Her prepared tags did work. They did!!
Second I tried Deco Art Foil and another foil to see if they would adhere, since they were not from AG.  They did!
Last I tried the copier tip I had heard about. I made a copy of something and then ran it thru my Minc. It worked!!
Here's what I played with.
I forgot to mention, I did experiment with combining foils. Came out cool. Thanks for looking and Happy Scrappn!

Paper Temptress ~ FAMILY~ a card...

Hello Crafters!
Hope this finds you doing well.
I was inspired by Contadina K's card. I wanted to make a simple but meaningful card. Thank you CONTADINA for the inspiration!!!
I used the Cryogen White as a base for this A2 card. I inked the bottom piece with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Then I chose from my Brown Bag Kraft Package #2. I used the Brown Bag paper for the inset.  I stamped some leaves(3rd Eye) on the background and then embossed the image using my Anna Griffin "Aviary" folder. I stamped the leaves onto Heavenly White 80#.
Below is my card titled Family:

PT Family

Here are a couple of close ups:

I used several Distress Inks to color the leaves.
Hopefully as we enter into the Thanksgiving season we can all find things to be grateful for.

Cereal Box Fun Tut for Scrap That!

Hello there! I'm excited to be here to share a little tut with you. Isn't Srap That! an amazing place to learn new things!
Have you had a chance to check out our hop?? It start's here
The supplies you will need for this tut: one cereal box, one punch, Gesso, foam brush or something to paint with, ink, and die cutting machine to emboss with, embossing folder, Heat tool- optional.

1. Take your punch that you want to experiment with, punch it out and then paint it with Gesso.

2. Now if you want to hurry it along just a little bit you can use your heat tool to dry it faster.

3. Now that you are pretty sure its dry take your emboss folder and whichever die cutting machine you have. I used my Cuttlebug.

Here you can see I am feeding it in using my Genius platform system. It's pretty awesome.

4. Look at that! Really cool right?  However....

I had other folders that I thought I should try. I couldn't stop and you might not be able to either!!

Experiment and play til you see something that you really like. I've included some examples. I did try to restrain myself and not use every folder I owned.

Now if you notice this butterfly comes in our main kit. It was a really nice thin material.

5. Now get out your ink and lightly go over your embossed items. I even rubbed two different colors on one of them. I did get excited about the inks too.

Then I had another thought!!! What if after the Gesso I went ahead and INKED the item. I used my Tim Holtz Metallic Distress Stain from my stash.. to paint the butterfly and THEN I embossed it.

Here is the end result. I love how this turned out as well.  I think there is a place for both methods!

What do you think??

Here I used both creations on my project using the Main Kit Only for this layout.

Thank you for looking. I'm running a challenge over at Scrap That! Come join me for a chance to win a beautiful prize.
Happy Scrappn!!

One Big Happy Family

Hi Everyone!
This is Monica here with my first post for THE PAPER TEMPTRESS. I'm so excited to be  working with these fabulous papers! I'm not a normal cardmaker but thought I would give it a try. I'm starting to fall in love with dies, well when I can get them to work. Here is a close up  of the card. Products used Basis cardstock, Vellum, Silver Lustre Collection (my favorite). I took this picture in direct sunlight so you could see the awesome shimmer of the Silver Lustre Collection. I'm including a little mini tut. I hope you like it and that it makes sense. I used my brand NEW Memory Box Dies, and Marianne Designs Creations. Check out Paper Temptress for your cardstock and ribbon needs.

Silver Lustre
Here are the papers I used:

and now a close up of the Vellum that has a special sheen to it.

This next shot is using a technique where you ink the top of the embossing folder and then running my paper thru it. Anna Griffin Embossing Folder Foliard was a joy to work with.

Getting the die cuts assembled and prepped for the final step.

The final shot
I loved these new dies that I found at my local scrapbook store.. R U Stampin and Scrapping! Thank you Joyce.
I also used a new Platform System called The Genius.  This is thanks to Joyce as well. I only have the Cuttlebug and had bought some new spellbinders and I could not get them to cut for anything!! Well she explained to me how The Genius only has 3 plates.. The base plate is MAGNETIC.. no more sliding around. The top plates are self healing and made of some material that doesn't let it warp.  So I only needed two plates to get my stuff to work! How amazing is that!!!  I will probably be getting the Big Shot this year. I need something a bit more reliable. I used The Genius with my new dies and they just came out perfectly.
I also have to give a shout out to TRESORS DE LUXE!! I got my flowers today and I just love them. I highly recommend her store for the most fabulous laces and flowers!!

Products used:
Paper Temptress: Silver Lustre Collection, Basis Cardstock, Vellum package
Tresors de Luxe : Flower
Memory Box Dies: Marietta Buckle, Ivy Tendrils
Marianne Designs Creatables: LR0248
Genius: Ultimate Platform System
Anna Griffin Embossing Folder: Foliard
Distress Ink: Black Soot
