"Mob in the Spa' July Scraps of Darkness Wayfarer Kit

Hello my crafty friends... boy was I pleasantly surprised when I looked closer at this paper.


Blue Fern Studios .... thank you for including historical places around the country.
I squealed in delight when I saw.... Hot Springs Arkansas. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to showcase a few historical items of interest for my little town. yay. I will definitely have to buy more of this paper.

For my 2nd project with this wonderful July Kit from Scraps of Darkness called Wayfarer I present........ MOB IN THE SPA.... yes those little ole' gangsters loving coming to Hot Springs... it was a hot bed.... of crime, with alcohol running free, gambling and legalized prostitution. Of course let's not forget the corruption that was probably running rampant back then as well.
We have a neat museum about it all and a few books have been written as well. I am featuring a photo of a bookcover which talks about Al Capone and a few others. I had a lot of fun with this project. I really connected with it.

Below I will show some close ups..

I love working with stencils and the brick one is my all time favorite. I used some old texturez that wasn't dried up and mixed in some alcohol inks... and I think I've seen in movies.. beware of the black rose... ooooooo... I also used some Nuvo drops in Antique Rose underneath the car.. and a little Anna Griffin Flourish in the corner. I also dropped a few ... prills (which can be found in the Scraps of Darkness Store) onto the bricks..

This card was my absolute favorite... HOT SPRINGS!!! yay. with some beautiful flowers.. a little burlap paper that was included in the kit.. I really like this version because it didn't start fraying and coming apart. and those wonderful 49 and Market flowers... I really want to use them all on one project but I can't. I have to leave some for the other projects... do you ever get that happy with your goodies.??

I loved this adhesive piece for the Great Getaway .. whenever I can find something it is pre-glued for me I make a mental note of it! I also tried a little technique with my die and gilding flakes....from my stash.. I just love it.

I loved the traveler emphemera that was included in the kit. It was so hard to choose just one or two or 4 of them.... 

Why yes I did a little splattering here and there.... a little 49 and Market dragonfly had to pop in... and more little elements...

Here's the other side and that clothes pin... ya'll you know back in the day they hung their clothes up... and I did too when I was growing up... then we discovered laundromats... mom didn't drive so we carried our clothes thru town ... and we hated it when the dryers weren't working...thank goodness later in life we were able to get a washer and dryer.. but I surely remember the early years...and I think I prefer clothes on the line as opposed to over drying and shrinking my clothes LOL.

Here are some more elements I was able to add.. and look at that.. .9 -15... well I just had to use it.. cuz that my birth month and day. tee hee

Here I have another piece of 49 and Market's greenery and some more Nuvo drops (which can be found in the Scraps of Darkness Store).

Another project from The Flying Unicorn Camp

We had Prima Make and Takes provided to us from Jennifer Snyder and Erin Reed. I ended up ordering those Oil Pastel Crayons.

Those ladies were just amazing. I loved the variety that they both presented.

Here is my favorite Christmas Card I made in Jen's class.

She taught us something really cool about that doily.

She took the center out of the die and we used that piece as you can see nestled in under the flowers. It just kind of peeks out. Of course we had to edge the die cut piece in a little bit of color.

Another neat tip was regarding the gold looking stars... that was actually a piece of lace, I believe from Prima. She cut it apart and reused and rearranged the pieces..How clever!!

Ok let's just have another look at the finished project. I have received many compliments here at work on this piece.

A few of my favorite die cut projects

In this first one, it's my favorite attempt at a Tim Holtz tag, he's a hero for sure. I used his die the leaves and branches for this.

This one features my son opening a present that he had wanted. I cut the letters OMG and the stars from my Silhouette Cameo and the flourish is a Cheery Lynn Die that I now own:

In this next one it's in tribute to my late Uncle Marvin, I used my Sil. Cameo to cut out the words white feather and the flourishes along the left side. I liked how they almost looked like hearts:

This one I used the Cheery Lynn die flourish again to complete the layout:

This one I used my Sil Cam to cut out the beautiful butterfly as shown below:

These next two I used my Heartfelt Creations Dies and made it into the Semi-finalist round. How cool:

In this next layout I used my Sil Cameo and my Heartfelt Creation dies :

In this layout I did another combo of Heartfelt Creation dies and some flourishes and butterfly from my Sil. Cameo:

In this DT project I used some new dies I got from my local store to make this card, I believe these are Memory Box:

In this next one I used some of the new dies from the local store as accents, Memory Box:

In this layout I used my Cricut Expression to cut out the numbers:

This next one is one of my favorite cuts from my which is the giant floral frame on the left and I also cut the flowers out of vellum from the Cameo, also DT work.:

These are just a few examples of my projects using die cuts in their various forms. I didn't realize I had so many and I had to stop so this post wouldn't go on and on.
